When Is Hot Good?

Hot is good when it surrounds two hundred and fifty plus street rods, hot rods, late models, (for me that is anything on wheels after 1955) a custom or two and a handful of bikes.

Hot is good when it sounds like the tunes from the 50's, 60's and is decorated with anything bearing the name Rat Fink.  Hot is good when it is spelled C r u i s e  I n , cost five bucks to show and is in Macon, GA.

Hot is good when it is August 1, 2009 and the Middle Georgia Cruisers are in charge of a  chunk of asphalt at The Shoppes at Rivercrossing in Macon.  A nice shinny new Mall  that opened just in time for the recession.

I guess folks didn't get the word here that life was being called off. The Cruisers called it a "Super Cruise In"  and the world showed up. Heck, even a nice shinny tractor rig pulled in that could jerk anything from a dry box to a tanker down the road faster than anybody should want to go.  Eat your heart out Peterbilt. MACK stole the show.

Hot is good when the crowd is so large they sink not one but two eating establishments. Yep,  Sticky Fingers and Chili’s ran out. I mean they ran out.

Norma and I returned to the scene of the fun the next day. After talking about how they had been slammed with the car show, our at that moment order became a comic listing of what Sticky Fingers did not have.

Finally, succumbing to the absurd, the wait person coos in her sweet Georgia peach drawl," why don't ya’ll just look at the menu and think uh thu things ya’ll  can have next time you’re in."  We all laughed. Norma and I ordered. A few minutes later she handed us a gift card to cover the cost of that next time.

Some times hot is just good.

Thanks to Curtis and Norma Beaird for the great story and photos! HRH
